MOVIE REVIEW: Lady Chatterley’s Lover (On Netflix)
Nudity is expressed with care-free confidence and the sex scenes are rather bold. Do not watch with kids.
Based on the novel of the same name, the plot follows an unhappily married aristocrat who begins a wild love affair within her husband’s estate.
The film has a predictable execution to a familiar story. One could easily see where it leads as it progresses.
Back when the book was published in 1928, it became a subject of controversy and censorship due to its explicit content. It was reported to have pioneered the change in perception towards sexually explicit literature years after release when its popularity reached many countries.
This adaptation is traditional and basic if compared to contemporary romance drama. There are no big stakes, twists or deep intrigues in the plot.
However this doesn’t make it any less interesting for a romance drama. It is well acted and heavily laced with steamy, raunchy love affair which appears to be the highlight of the film.
The story is straightforward, engaging, though stretched, anyone in the mood for an erotic adult drama would find this easy to stick with.
